onza

Onza is one of the best known brands in the cycle world. Originating in California in the late 1980’s, after they invented and developed handlebar bar ends, the name soon became synonymous with cutting edge mountain biking parts and components, creating many classic items which are still unsurpassed today.

onza In the late 1990s the brand came under the ownership of the Super Cycles group based in Nottingham , England. They had a strong presence in most disciplines of bicycle sport, but were looking for a brand name to head up their fast evolving Bicycle Trials range, which they felt could be transformed from just a niche competition sport into a street pastime. At this time it was felt that with a lack of other new product coming through and to prevent its image from becoming stale the Onza brand was ideally placed to be taken in a new direction, and so in late 1998 the Onza Trials range was born.
onza The first Onza trials bikes hit the streets in 1999 and the reputation for quality has grown steadily ever since. Onza has almost single handedly changed the image of Bicycle Trials from a niche and quirky out of town competition sport into a hard edged urban street pastime to rival BMX. By making Trials bikes affordable they have brought them into a totally new market and increased sales dramatically.
Onza bikes and parts are now available worldwide and they have distributors all over the globe. Development and product design still emanates largely from Onzas headquarters in Nottingham where the Super Cycles group is still based. With their sister brand Tensile and the Onza Pro Series they are making inroads into the top competition side of the market . For over a year now the highest placed British rider in the UCI Trials World Cup has been riding an Onza.
Tensile continues to develop new and innovative products to sell on the trials and general markets and most items sold under that brand name have some degree of exclusivity usually with some intellectual property attachment such as Patents or Registered Designs.
Alongside these products they still continue to market and distribute some of the old favourites like Onza Porc Tyres or Porcipaw and Ule Grips.
Mike Poyzer still heads up operations with his wife Sue. Son Chris works mainly in Marketing and Promotion while other son Joe works principally on Sales and Brand Development. Joes shares part of his time working for Moore Large and Co. who are Onza’s UK distributor.
This new Website is a tangible manifestation of their commitment to maintaining and developing their position as the leading Trials Bike and Parts distributor in the UK and possibly the world. The Poyzer families long tradition in the Bicycle trade adds up, between them, to in excess of 100 years and their unstinting pursuit of value and innovation is as strong today as it was forty years ago. Their door is always open to customers and friends and they value any constructive comments about their brands, products or business.
